The License Manager for the server based concurrent licensing is called MacroView License Daemon. Whenever PlantVantage connects to a server ,the Server checks its licensing details with the License Daemon. PlantVantage can only get data from the Server if the licensing details are found to be valid by the License Daemon. The License Daemon can be run in the command line when it is installed and a valid MacroView license file is available. To check if a MacroView license file is valid we can run the verify command on the License Daemon in the command line:
If the MacroView license file is not valid the license file and the Machine ID of the computer is to be sent to the software vendor. The software vendor will use the Machine ID and the given license file to produce a valid license file that is sent back. To determine the Machine ID of a computer the MacroView License Edit program is run on the command line with the mid command line option:
To run the the valid MacroView license file with the License Daemon the file command line option is to be used:
The License Daemon is usually run on the same host as the Server. When the Server and License Daemon are run on the same server no extra command line options are needed when running the Server from the command line. But it is possible to run the Server and License Daemon on different hosts. To get a Server to use a License Daemon on a different host the Servers must be given the IP address of the License Daemon's host.
