PlantVantage attempts a connection with a server when a server address is entered in the Master Server text area and the connect button is pressed.
If the connection attempt fails a login screen appears. The login screen gives the reason why the connection attempt had failed. The possible reasons include the server not supporting anonymous logins or the server not being reachable. After a user name and password is provided and the login button is pressed another connection attempted is made.
If the connection attempt succeeds a chart and associated data is displayed in the main panel. Otherwise, the User Options item is shown in the side bar.
